Tips for fishing on Memorial Weekend
While many of the rivers and streams in Idaho have seen high water levels lately, that should not stop you from fishing on Memorial weekend.
“Water years like this, the fish are still there, they are still active. You just want to use some reservation when it comes to boating and approaching those waters,” commented Larry Larsen, the owner of Snake River Fly in Pocatello.
However, with the higher water levels, it might mean you need to change your fishing strategy.
“If a person is willing to fish the edge of the streams, most of the fish are going to get pushed to the edges in higher water, they don’t like to sit out in the high flows, so focus on the edges,” said Larsen.
And finally, Larsen suggests using brightly colored lures in darker water.
“It is a little bit easier for the fish to see them, also a little bit easier for the angler to see them, which makes it so you can fish it a little better,” added. Larsen.
