Federal agencies draw Idaho GOP ire

Federal environmental regulators be warned: Idaho Republicans are hoping to put you out of work.

At the state GOP convention in Twin Falls on Friday, a committee of delegates meeting at the biennial partisan event supported a resolution that the Environmental Protection Agency be abolished.

Twin Falls delegate Don Zuck described the EPA as a “junkyard dog” that doesn’t know when to quit regulating, resulting in job losses.

But Republicans ire didn’t stop at the environmental watchdog.

Idaho GOP loyalists also recommended the convention adopt resolutions seeking to disband the U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Energy.

These are non-binding resolutions, but they reflect traditional frustration of delegates over their perception of regulation emanating from Washington, D.C.

A final vote on about a dozen resolutions will come Saturday.
