Man commits suicide at state prison

The Idaho Department of Correction is investigating the apparent suicide of an inmate at the Idaho State Correctional Institution south of Boise.

Brandon Munk was found hanging in his cell on Saturday.

Emergency responders were able to restore his pulse, but Munk died Sunday at the hospital.

The 34-year-old was originally sentenced in 2009 to two to five years in prison for forgery in Bannock County.

He was scheduled to be released next year.

As part of standard procedure, the Department of Correction has asked the Ada County Sheriff’s Office to help with the investigation into Munk’s death.
