Field of Honor to salute veterans

A local club is giving back to first responders and child abuse victims this Memorial Day weekend.

The Exchange Club of Idaho Falls is preparing for its first Field of Honor Memorial at Freeman Park.

Club members were still setting up for the event Friday that’s being held through Monday.

There will be speeches honoring veterans as well as salutes.

Attendees can sponsor a flag to help child abuse victims and the Bonneville County Crimestoppers.

“It feels wonderful,” said Bill Sewell, the club’s president elect. “We hope everyone comes out and enjoys this. We hope the weather is going to cooperate. Memorial Day is always iffy, but we’re doing it.”

The formal ceremony starts at noon tomorrow. For more information, see http://www.healingfield.org/idahofalls13.
