Blackfoot City Council to receive plan for pool

The Blackfoot City Council is discussing the city pool and whether to keep it open, remodel it or build a new one.

This has been an issue in Blackfoot for years now. The community wants to keep the pool open. City officials would like the community to have what it wants but are concerned about the costs.

“We want to do the right thing there’s always going to be limited funds and so we’re trying to balance the needs of the community with the funds that we have available,” said Mayor Paul Loomis.

About six months ago, a pool committee was established. The committee is a group of city volunteers who have researched the best way to go about the issue.

The mayor says no decision will be made tonight, but the City Council will receive the committee’s recommendation on what option is best.
