Elk causing concern along Interstate 15

Idaho Fish and Game are keeping an eye on a large elk herd along Interstate 15.

The herd of around 100 elk moved into the area between Highway 33 and Roberts recently.

Idaho Fish and Game is concerned because of the elk might move back and forth across the highway, causing a danger for motorists.

“Those elk that are moving back and forth, are kind of distracted from their normal migration path. Which occasionally can occur, and we are working with land owners to make sure they are safe where they’re at, and not pushed out on to the roadway,” said Gregg Losinski, Regional Conservation Educator for Idaho Fish and Game.

Idaho Fish and Game caution hunters to ask for permission from land owners before hunting in that area. Hunters should be careful in causing the elk to move into the roadway causing a danger for drivers.
