Local business ideas become reality

New products could be coming to eastern Idaho. This comes after the city and Madison Economic Partners held their annual Rexburg Business Competition.. Over $10,000 in cash prizes, mentoring and much more was awarded to three winners. The winners were chosen Thursday evening.

PrintSpace took home the top prize for its 3D printer.

“This is our own uniquely designed 3D printer geared towards engineering firms. It is the quietest 3D printer on the market. It has a patent pending carbon-glide technology that we have developed,” said Mark Jaster, Co-Founder.

The company also manufactures the printers in Rexburg. Scott Johnson is the Director of Economic Development. He said the product won for several reasons.

“It is really leading edge technology and it is stuff Idaho isn’t known for, but we’re starting to see those ideas pop up. It is very exciting,” said Johnson.

Second place winner GoTac, LLC. is looking to help police agencies locally and nationwide.

“Some of the tools that we’re using with law enforcement are causing damage to people and homes and pets. We specialize in reducing the risks that occurs,” said Brent Whipple, Co-Founder.

ArmsReach Industries took third place Thursday. The company hopes to make your life a bit easier with its bedside product.

“The night holster is a bedside organizer. It is a plastic injection mold so if it is placed right on the side of your bed there are two rods between the mattress and box springs. It has a place for your cell phone, water bottle and a compartment for glasses and headphones,” said Joseph Cammack.

Johnson said business leaders will help the winners take their ideas to market. Judges had to decide from 25 submitted ideas. This is the fifth year of the competition.
