Idaho gas prices drop below three dollars

For the first time in years, Idaho gas prices fell below $3.

According to AAA fuel gauge report, Idaho’s average gas price was $2.87 Sunday. This is significantly lower than last year’s average, at $3.17. For the past few months the U.S. average has kept steady at $2.70 or lower.

“It has taken Idaho longer to get where most of the rest of the country has been for some time, but drivers are happy to see lower prices at the pump,” said AAA Idaho spokesman Dave Carlson.

Motorists in Idaho Falls said it’s been a while since they’ve seen gas prices under $3.

“I use to have a boat. When gas went up to $3 or more, I’d siphon and put in my car,” said Gail Jensen.

Although AAA suggests that lower oil prices will encourage a steady decline in gasoline, many drivers aren’t optimistic that cheaper prices will continue.

“It just keeps going up and down, and they can do whatever they want with it when it comes to the gas prices, because they we’ll pay it,” said motorist Cole Tremelling.
