Personal property taxes due Dec. 22

This year folks in Bannock County have two extra days to get their personal property tax payments in.

The county treasurer’s office said taxes are normally due on December 20, but this year that day falls on a Saturday so everyone will have until the following Monday to pay those taxes.

County treasurer Radene Barker said you can either pay the full amount at one time or the first half by the 22nd and the second half in June.

She said if you’re late with that payment, there will be a one-percent increment each month in penalties, so advises folks to not wait until the last minute because those payments need to be postmarked by the 22nd in order to be counted in by the deadline.

The office is open Monday through Friday from eight o’clock in the morning until five o’clock in the evening. If you come after it closes, you can leave your payment in the drop box outside of the courthouse.
