Snake River Animal Shelter makes progress
The Snake River Animal Shelter in Idaho Falls is starting to come together.
The walls are framed and the roof is on the nonprofit’s future site. Tuesday donors had a chance to take a look at the progress before it opens in the spring.
At full capacity, the shelter will be able to house 72 dogs and 50 cats. Executive Director Cami Smith said the shelter will promote adoptable animals.
“It’s really going to be friendly, where people can come in and look around,” said Smith. “We have ‘get acquainted’ rooms, so somebody can take a cat into a separate room and play with it.”
Smith said the construction has been paid for by generous donors, but added that the organization still depends on community contributions for its operational costs.
