Car crashes off I-15 in Pocatello

Two people were hospitalized in a one-car accident in Pocatello early Tuesday morning.

Guilherme Giacomelli Schreiber, 22, of Brazil, was driving a 2015 Hyundai Elantra northbound on Interstate 15 near the Pocatello Creek Road overpass around 1:15 a.m.

The car went off the right shoulder of the interstate, off the overpass and came to rest on Pocatello Creek Road, police said.

Both the driver and his passenger were transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. Giacomelli Schreiber was treated and released, but passenger Camila Screiber Bortolazza, 21, of Brazil, was transported to the University of Utah, PMC said.

One lane of Pocatello Creek Road was blocked for about 45 minutes.

Idaho State Police is investigating the crash.
