Police investigating unrelated set of beatings over weekend

Pocatello police are asking for the public’s help in finding those responsible for a series of beatings this weekend which left two men hospitalized after sustaining severe head and face injuries.

In one incident, Kristopher Briley, 23, was last seen leaving Club 91 on Friday night, and by Saturday morning he was found laying in the parking lot of Bamboo Gardens across the street.

Pocatello Police Department’s Lt. Paul Manning said detectives reviewed the bar’s surveillance footage showing Briley left, seemingly alright, so they are now interviewing witnesses and asking nearby businesses if they saw anything happen to him between the time he left the bar and when he was found.

“There is a gap between the time he left the bar and when he was found in the parking lot of Bamboo Gardens, so we are trying to find any video footage that shows what happened or where he went after he left the bar,” Manning said.

Family members said over a Facebook post, they suspect Briley was run over by a vehicle before being taken to the Portneuf Medical Center.

They also said his core body temperature had dropped to 86-degrees by the time he was found.

Manning said police were called out on a welfare check by a caller who did not want to be identified after the anonymous caller found Briley.

On Sunday morning police were also called to PMC after another man was dropped off there by a private vehicle. He was being treated for severe facial injuries and his condition is still unknown.

Manning said he was believed to have been beaten on the 700 block of W. Lewis.

He said both incidents are unrelated, but it’s still unusual to have two beatings such as these occur in one weekend.

Manning said if anyone has any information to please call detectives at: 234.6121 or dispatch at: 234.6100.
