Heat lamp leads to barn fire

A barned burned down on Christmas Day in Madison County.

On Thursday around 8 a.m., fire crews were called to a barn fire on the 9000 block of South Snake River Road near Rexburg.

When firefighters arrived, they found a 40-by-20-foot metal barn fully engulfed in flames. They were able to quickly put out the fire.

The Madison Fire Department said the fire was caused by a heat lamp used to keep livestock warm.

The loss of the building and contents was estimated at $20,000.
