Pebble Creek opens with 13 inches of fresh snow

Conditions were better than many had hoped for when the Pebble Creek Ski Area opened for the ski season Friday.

Pebble Creek has received a total of 13 inches of snow since Thursday after a winter storm moved through the area on Christmas Eve.

“It’s all in the last — the previous 24 hours. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day,” said general manager Mary Reichman.

Skiers and snowboarders flocked to Pebble Creek Friday morning upon hearing the news.

“That’s what we live for. That’s what we wait for is this fresh powder to come down so we get the good turns in,” said snowboarder Jake Williams, who’s visiting from Bend, Oregon.

“It’s nice. It’s real smooth,” said skier Tyler Frasure.

Pebble Creek boasts 54 trails and a 2,200-foot vertical drop.

Reichman said the slopes typically remain open until late March.
