Locals frustrated with television providers

We all have our favorite TV shows and channels. Some people pick their TV provider based on that. But what happens if your TV provider were to drop those channels?
Well, it just might happen.

Cable One is trying to settle on an agreement with NBC Universal.

According to myshowsmatter.com, if it doesn’t, you might lose 11 networks.

People in TV service have seen more people switching to other providers.

“We have seen more people interested in Dish Network because of the change in channels and also losing some channels, so we have noticed the difference more phone calls, more people coming in,” said the owner of Merlin’s TV, Service Bill Tietjen.

But Dish is also having some problems.

“They’re in negotiations with Fox News to a establish the price on those and so those channels are suspended and I’m sure that affects them too,” he said.

“My wife and I are big Fox News fans, and for about the last week and a half, they haven’t had the channel and a we love to watch that channel and we figure we’d give them a couple more days to work out this contract dispute or whatever it is and if they don’t get it we’re going to drop it,” said Tom Collins, a Dish customer.

They’re not happy about it.

“When we picked them up, there were several channels we really wanted and one of them was Fox, so that’s the package we bought and then they just dropped it and we feel like we paid for something we’re not getting,” Collins said.

Some locals said they’ve made a change.
“Because I don’t want the cost any more,” said Spencer Elder.

But that was dropping TV providers all together.
“Streaming. I’ll just use Nextflix. It’s a lot easier, a lot cheaper.”

We called Dish, but haven’t heard back. Cable One was not able to do an interview, but they say negotiations are going well.

A deadline is set for Wednesday night for Cable One and NBC Universal to come to an agreement.

Similar negotiations were resolved earlier this year between Direct-TV and ABC.
