Spring means the return of archery season

Who knew archery can be fun for everyone, the whole family even. The Archery Invasion shop in Chubbuck shows us why archery isn’t just for hunting.

“I’m the owner as of three weeks ago. We’ve been at this location for 5 years, before that, we were over on Geraldine’s, we were called ‘White Tip Archery’ at that time. So being at this location, we’re going on 5 years,” said Ty Colton, Owner of Archery Invasion.

Colton was born and raised in American Falls. He says his Dad is a potato farmer there and from a very young age, he just instilled going out to the mountains and doing archery.

“I would have to credit it to my Dad for bringing me here. This is a full time pro shop. We work on bows, sell arrows, accessories, that’s our forte, that’s what we do here.”

Several customers shuffle in and out throughout the day at Archery Invasion, as it has received outstanding reviews on the web. Colton says people come from all over, even as far as Rexburg. Customers like Jeremy Whitehead, who is no stranger to archery, is a regular to Colton’s shop.

“It’s a family activity. My son is 2 years old. He’s got a bow. Everyone can do it, everyone from 2 to 90. You can shoot a bow,” said Whitehead, whose been featured on many outdoor activity TV shows.

With no age limit, Colton says Spring is the return of archery season, and he wants to make sure everyone knows it’s a multi-purpose activity.

“I think there’s a big misconception with archery, everyone thinks it’s just for hunting. There’s a huge growth in the youth interest with recreational archery,” said Colton.

And with the coming of Spring, Colton is in the process of setting up a new and bigger shop on 880 N. 5th Ave. in Pocatello, next to City Hall.

“It’s going to have a 20 yard range, 10 lanes, and a techno hunt. It’s a 5,800 square foot building, so it’s pretty big. We’re going to have a ton more of inventory, and it’s just going to be a cool setup.”

The new shop in Pocatello will be open this Spring.
