Spring snowmaker to hit eastern Idaho, western Wyoming
A round of winter-like weather is moving into eastern Idaho and western Wyoming for Monday evening into Tuesday morning.
This storm is still expected to bring SCATTERED snow and rain showers. Meaning, not everyone will see the heavy snow and rain.
Most snow will fall in the Southern Highlands and Western Wyoming. Themountains can expect 10-24 inches of fresh powder while areas includingJackson Hole, the Teton Valley, and the Caribou Highlands will receive 3-8inches. Our Central Mountain Valleys will not see much accumulation withthis storm. The forecasts for our Snake River Plain are tricky – for nowthe models show the area receiving two to five inches. The further south andeast you are, the more snowfall you will see. Don’t be too surprised if someareas pick up more, or if some areas pick up very little, if any. Againthere is a very fine line between who sees a good bit of snow and not verymuch at all.
Winds will be breezy, with occasional gusts up to 40 miles per hour. Due tothe high moisture content of the precipitation, blowing snow will not be aconcern except in the high mountain passes.
As you travel to work and school Tuesday morning, keep a careful eye on theroad conditions. Overnight temperatures will drop to freezing and below, creating many icy and snow covered roads. So plan accordingly and keep up to If you are ready for Spring to return don’t worry, come Thursday and into the weekend the skies will clear up once more! Temperatures will rise into the 60’s across the Snake River Plain and the upper 40’s for Western Wyoming.
