Update: Suspect in Walmart incident being treated for mental health issue
Update 3/31/16 11:00 a.m: New details have been released today about the man who caused an evacuation at the Rexburg Walmart Wednesday.
Rexburg Police Department says the man is a 22-year-old BYU-Idaho student from Texas. After he was taken into custody yesterday the man was evaluatedand then taken to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello for treatment of a mental health issue.
No charges have been filed against the man at this time. Rexburg Police have released his name but because of the man’s illness we have chosen not to release the name.
Update 2:30 p.m: The suspect of the incident at the Rexburg Walmart is now in custody. We’ve also added video of the suspect yelling inside the store.

Original story: The Rexburg Police Department have evacuated the Rexburg Walmart after a man entered the store and began to shout threats.
Captain Randy Lewis says the man is in his mid 20’s and was carrying a machete and hammer, which he picked up in store.
Police tell Local News 8 that they have cleared the store and made contact with the man but he isn’t responding to them. Captain Lewis says the man is apparently yelling at stores shelves.
People are asked to avoid the area until Rexburg Police Department can finish handling the situation.
