The Middle Fire mapped at 338 acres
MCCAMMON, Idaho (KIFI/KXPI) - UPDATE 9/2/22: The Middle Fire was reported Thursday afternoon burning just north of McCammon east of I-15.
Crews where able to make good progress Thursday night on the fire with the help of aerial resources and numerous cooperators.
On Friday, the fire was mapped at 338 acres and containment is estimated for 8 p.m. Friday.
Crews have continued to maintain containment lines as well as reinforce them throughout Friday and will be on scene ensuring no further spread occurs through Saturday.
The cause is under investigation.
The second fire in the McCammon area was the Crystal Springs Fire burning just east of McCammon. It was reported Thursday at roughly the same time as the Middle Fire was. Crews reached full containment at 9 p.m. Thursday night. The fire burned 31.5 acres of grass and brush. Crews are monitoring the fire until this evening.
The cause is under investigation.
This will be the last report on the Crystal Springs Fire unless significant activity occurs.
ORIGINAL: A new wildfire sparks Thursday evening near the McCammon exit of Interstate 15.
The fire was reported around 5:30 p.m., and is called the Middle fire.
There are no reports of evacuations or injuries from this fire as of yet. We have reports of this fire being fought with air-support and ground crews.
