Bonneville Bees Chasing Back-to-Back State Titles
IDHAO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) — After bringing home the state championship last season, the Bonneville Bees are buzzing into the postseason with one goal in mind — doing it all over again.
For Bonneville, last year’s title run may have ended with a trophy, but inside the program, the expectations never changed.
“Just win. Win every pitch, one pitch at a time.”
Championship teams are often remembered for a single season, but the Bees are trying to build something bigger — a standard that lasts year after year.
A season after lifting the state title trophy, Bonneville enters the postseason knowing the target on its back is bigger than ever. But players and coaches say the mindset remains the same.
“Last year it took every guy to win that state championship, and this year it’s going to take the same,” one player said.
That team-first mentality has become the identity of the program. Players say the trust inside the dugout is what makes this group dangerous.
“Just trusting your teammates and knowing they have your back and you have their back.”
For head coach Ryan Alexander, the biggest challenge isn’t handling pressure — it’s making sure success never lowers the standard.
“We have a high standard here,” Alexander said. “It’s probably not for everybody, and that’s okay.”
Alexander says this senior class has helped continue the culture built by the players before them, passing down expectations both on and off the field.
“They were taught by the group before them, and that group by the group before them,” Alexander said. “This senior class and the success they’ve had on the field — the biggest success is what they’ve taught the juniors, sophomores, and freshmen in the program.”
Now, the postseason begins.
And for a team that already knows what the top feels like, there’s only one message left, and that's their team motto:
“Winners only.”
The Bees will open postseason play Thursday night against Skyview at 7 p.m. at Melaleuca Field.
