Pothole repairs on Yellowstone Highway

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - The Idaho Transportation Department is in Idaho Falls working to repair potholes on Yellowstone Highway, moving north from Pancheri Drive. 

Traffic is backed up and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes. Crews are expected to be out there throughout the day. If you must travel in the area, please slow down and use caution around construction crews.

While they plan to finish in the coming weeks, Jessie Olivas with the ITD says it all depends on the weather.

"They can't be doing this when it's rain and snow and because that asphalt that we're temporarily putting down will not stick," said Olivas.

"Also, there's a certain temperature that we required these contractors to have that material when it's being placed on the ground. So if we don't have those temperatures in place, we just unfortunately can't put it down. We want it to go on the ground and stay there for a while. We don't want it to pop out next week."
