BOSTON (WCVB) — With less than a week to go until the 127th running of the Boston Marathon, preparations are well underway in Boston.
Officials expect 30,000 runners and guests will spend over $100 million this week while spectators and visitors will spend over $30 million over the long holiday weekend.
“It’s the eye candy for the finish line,” Jeremy Thom, who is in charge of getting the production bridge across the Boston Marathon finish line set up and secured said.
The photo bridge gives the best view of Boylston Street for both WCVB and ESPN before, during and after the race.
Bank of America announced as presenting sponsor of Boston Marathon, starting in 2024Boston Marathon Expo at Hynes Convention Center “It’s also the piece that becomes the look of the event. And all the other marathons have their own look,” Thom said. “You know, on camera, you can tell exactly where you are before anyone ever tells you.”
Inside the Fairmont Copley Hotel, Boston Marathon decals are being placed in key areas around the lobby.
“We’re getting ready right now to welcome pro athletes, runners and the Boston community,” Tabish Siddiquie, the general manager of the hotel, said.
The Boston Marathon medical tent, which is located across from the Boston Public Library building, will take three days to be constructed.
