Building catches on fire in Chubbuck

UPDATE 9:43 MDT CHUBBUCK, Idaho (KIFI)-The fire started this afternoon when a homeowner on Philbin was burning weeds and the fire got away from him.

It burned his house, a shed and about five cars that were on the property.

Everything is a total loss.

No damage estimates yet but it will be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. 

No one was injured.

Several other homes in the area were threatened, but the quick response from fire fighters from North

Bannock fire, Fort Hall Fire, Chubbuck Fire and Pocatello Fire saved the other homes.

Police, Search and Rescue and the Forest Service also assisted. 

Philbin Road between Chubbuck Road and Siphon Road will be closed most of tonight. 

Firefighters remind everyone of the fire danger due to the hot and dry conditions.

A Burn Ban is in effect for Bannock County. 

CHUBBUCK, Idaho (KIFI)-North Bannock County fire authorities are currently on the scene of a structure fire.

Preliminary reports say the blaze started as a grass fire and got out of control as a nearby building was engulfed.

Philbon Road is currently closed as crews look to extinguish the flames.

Officials are asking residents to avoid the scene and take nearby roads such as W. Chubbuck Road or W. Siphon Road.
