ISLAMABAD (AP) — A Pakistani lawyer says his client, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, is asking a top court in Islamabad to suspend his conviction and three-year prison sentence in a graft case. The attorney, Naeem Haider Panjutha, said on Tuesday that the Islamabad High Court would hear the appeal the next day. Khan’s latest legal battle comes a day after his lawyer met with him at a high-security Attock prison in eastern Punjab province where he was taken to following the sentencing last weekend. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he would step down on Wednesday, at the completion of his term and ahead of new elections.
