Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross arrested for felony criminal damage

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kansas (KCTV) — Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross was arrested Monday.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office booked Ross into custody at 4:27 p.m. on allegations of criminal damages exceeding $25,000. Court records said Ross was arrested at 2:54 p.m. in Shawnee, Kansas, and included a note denoting the arrest as a domestic violence incident.
There is currently no bond set for Ross. He’s due to make his first appearance in court Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
KCTV reached out for comment from the Chiefs and has not heard back yet. The team told the Associated Press that it was aware of the arrest but had no comment.
Ross has been on the Chiefs’ active roster for all seven games in the 2023 regular season. He’s caught three passes for 34 yards this season and had the fourth-most snaps of any Chiefs wide receiver during Sunday’s 31-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
He caught two touchdowns during preseason action for Kansas City.
Ross signed a three-year, $2.56 million contract with the Chiefs on May 6, 2022, after going undrafted out of Clemson. He didn’t play during the 2022 season as he recovered from injury.
Ross is making a $750,000 base salary for the 2023 season but carries no dead cap hit if he is cut.
