Celebrating 30 years of Shop With A Cop in Bonneville County
BONNEVILLE COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI) - This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the Shop With a Cop event in Bonneville County.
The event pairs local law enforcement officers with kids who have been exposed to traumatic or abusive situations to provide holiday cheer for their families.
In 1993, a group of K-Mart employees and Deputies from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office got together and planned the 1st Shop With A Cop in our area. Since that time, continuous support from numerous local businesses, civic groups and child advocacy centers have built this event into what it is today.
This year’s event takes place on Saturday Dec. 9 at the Ammon Target Store with officers from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho Falls Police, Idaho State Police, Idaho Fish and Game, Idaho Probation and Parole and many more participating.
The Shop With A Cop planning team is more excited than ever to celebrate the 30th Anniversary and have had an incredible amount of people asking how they can help make this year’s event more special. As a result the team created a donation link through our partners at the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center for the community to donate and make a difference with us.
Starting Nov. 30, for 30 days, celebrate 30 years of Shop With A Cop in Bonneville County by going to the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center fundraising webpage at www.dvsacac.org and donate directly to the Bonneville County Shop With A Cop fund. It’s a 30 day window of opportunity, starting Nov. 30, celebrating 30 years, and helping make a difference in our community.
