EU targets foreign companies over alleged dual-use exports to Russia, marking war’s 2nd anniversary

BRUSSELS (AP) — The European Union is imposing sanctions on several companies in countries including China, India, Serbia and Turkey over allegations that they have exported dual-use goods to Russia that could be used in its war against Ukraine. The 27-nation bloc also said Friday that it was targeting scores of Russian officials including “members of the judiciary, local politicians and people responsible for the illegal deportation and military re-education of Ukrainian children.” The asset freezes and travel bans constitute the 13th package of measures imposed by EU against those it suspects of undermining Ukraine’s sovereignty. The package is timed to mark the second anniversary of the Russian invasion, and comes just as the U.S. Treasury plans to impose more sanctions on Russia.
