NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WSMV) — More charges have been filed against the man accused of recording women in private changing rooms at a Nashville gym.
A woman said she was changing with her child at the Green Hills YMCA on Dec. 13, 2023, when someone slid a camera under the stall and began recording.
The woman did not confront the person because she was concerned for her safety and the safety of her child, a police affidavit states.
Almost a month later, the suspect, 27-year-old Wilson Silva Garcia, returned to the Green Hills YMCA to apologize to the managers and victims.
Police said he admitted to taking photos of the victim for personal pleasure and revealed he had done the same thing to multiple people over the last three to four months, the affidavit states.
Garcia was arrested on Jan. 9, 2024, for a similar situation at the same gym that happened just five days before this, police said.
According to an arrest report, on Dec. 18, Garcia was caught recording a woman while she changed her clothes by holding his cell phone over the stall. The woman told police she was naked from the waist down when she spotted the phone.
The woman said she quickly put her clothes on and confronted Garcia, who denied taking any photos or video of her. The woman told the staff at the YMCA and Garcia’s membership was canceled, the report states.
WSMV4 obtained a statement from the YMCA. They said they are doing regular walk-throughs, required background checks for members and they are using security cameras.
Garcia can now add unlawful photography involving a minor to his list of charges.
