RIGBY, Idaho (Rigby FFA release) - The Rigby FFA Chapter had 34 members participate in the Idaho FFA State Career Development Events held at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho from June 4th through the 7th, 2024.  Chapters from 65 schools competed for recognition.

Rigby FFA Chapter participated in twelve career development events, winning two and placing in the top six in 12 events.  The state championship teams were Livestock Evaluation and Forestry.

The teams placing 2nd were Agricultural Mechanics and Environmental Natural Resources. Teams placing 3rd are Agronomy and Agricultural Communications.

The 4th place teams at the state event were Veterinary Science and Dairy Cattle Evaluation. The Food Science team placed 5th; and placing 6th are Nursery Landscape, Milk Quality Products and Meats Evaluation.

In the Livestock Evaluation career development event participants make accurate and logical observations of livestock, decide on the desirable traits in marketing and breeding livestock, and select and market livestock that will satisfy consumer demands and provide increased economic returns to producers State champion team members were Tymber Billman – 8th, Reagan Stirling – 9th, Kalli Smith, and Halle Nicholes.

In the Forestry career development event participants demonstrate the following abilities: timber cruising, log scaling, compass reading and pacing, tree and tool identification, the ability to read a map using map symbols and legal descriptions.  State champion team members are Jack Taylor – 4th, Halle Nicholes – 7th, Keylee Harris – 8th, and Kalli Smith.

In the Agricultural Mechanics career development event (2nd) team members were Andrew Sauer – 1st in arc welding, Levi Simmons – 1st in electricity, Tyler Barrett – 2nd in Oxy/TIG welding, Levi Simmons – 5th in Tool Identification, and Brayden Hammer participated in Tool Reconditioning and Small Gas Engines.

In the Environmental Natural Resources career development event (2nd) Emily Cook – 2nd, Hannah Sauer – 8th, Blyss Miller, and Joel Ricks.

The Agronomy career development event (3rd) team members were Emily Cook – 9th, Joel Ricks – 10th, Kaitlyn Walker and Bryson Butikofer.

In the Agricultural Communications (3rd) team members are Kaitlyn Walker, Brayden Hammer, William Warner and Anna Warner.

In the Veterinary Science career development event (4th) Brinley Keetch placed 8th, other team members were Emily Jossi, Bailee Ricks, and Kynlee Walton.

In the Dairy Cattle Evaluation career development event (4th) team members were Blyss Miller – 2nd, Kayda Hickman, Reagan Stirling, and Amaiya Rice.

At the Food Science career development event (5th) team members were Aidan Sizemore – 8th, Declan Mower, Rhett Reynolds, and Jack Taylor.

At the Nursery Landscape Evaluation career development event (6th) team members were Kailynn Clark, Jesa Arnold, Tyler Barrett and Bryson Butikofer.

In the Milk Quality Evaluation career development event (6th) team members were Josephine Springer, Bridger Lamb, Kendyl McNeill, and Jasper Wasylow.

During the Meats Evaluation career development event (6th) team members were Kailynn Clark – 10th, Dallin Christopherson, Tymber Billman, and Kayda Hickman.

The Livestock Evaluation and Forestry teams will continue to prepare to represent Idaho at the National FFA Convention in October in Indianapolis, Indiana.
