KIFI

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — Damage assessments are underway in a Southern California hillside community after a wildfire suddenly swept through, chasing residents from their homes. Despite the ferocity of the flames, it appeared that only several homes were damaged or destroyed Monday in San Bernardino, east of Los Angeles. One firefighter was treated for a minor injury but there were no reports of injuries to residents. The fire scorched 54 acres and containment is holding Tuesday at 75%. In Northern California, firefighters are battling the reawakened Park Fire. The massive blaze reexploded Monday after several days of slumber. The Park Fire has already scorched nearly 647 square miles, destroyed 640 structures and damaged 52.
