FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Democrat Eugene Vindman and Republican Derrick Anderson remained locked in a close contest early Wednesday in a U.S. House race in Virginia for the seat being vacated by three-term Democratic U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger. With 99% of the votes counted in the 7th District race, Vindman led Anderson by a narrow margin. In Virginia’s 2nd House District race, Republican U.S. Rep. Jen Kiggans was leading her Democratic opponent, Missy Cotter Smasal, early Wednesday, but a substantial number of votes remained uncounted. The district is known for flipping between Democratic and Republican control. Kiggans ousted a Democratic incumbent in 2022.
