Low pressure brings waves of showers, thunderstorms through Monday

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - A wave of showers and thunderstorms will move through the region through Monday. The central mountains and eastern highlands are expected to see plenty of moisture and some cold weather conditions and snow for some backcountry locations. By the end of next week, temperatures are expected to return to average for this time of year, with the potential for light showers and isolated storms.

More showers are likely for Saturday night, mostly before 9pm with breezy conditions. Winds at 9 to 18 with gusts as high as 26 mph. Tonight's low to be around 42 under mostly cloudy skies.

Sunday morning might bring some sunshine in between storms, though it will still be cooler than average. High near 61. The rain chances will pick back up in the afternoon and into the evening. Gusty winds will return with some peaking around 29 mph. The surface winds will be between 9 to 17 mph. The overnight low will be around 41.

A wet morning is expected on Monday with a 40 percent of showers before noon. The high will be near 66 under mostly cloudy skies and more gusty winds as high as 25 mph. The low will be about 45 under mostly cloudy skies.

The rest of the week should be drier and warmer with some lingering thunderstorm chances.
