Wet weather clears as temporary storm risk continues into early week

Monsoonal moisture remains over Eastern Idaho and Western Wyoming this Sunday, making isolated and scattered storms likely as we head into the week. Storm activity should increase this afternoon, with brief heavy downpours and gusty winds moving north toward Montana.

Currently, weaker storm systems are moving through the region, so the wet weather we’ve experienced over the past few days is gradually clearing. However, we should still anticipate occasional rain showers and lightning, albeit with smaller weather bands. Monday's weather will resemble today, featuring small pockets of rainfall and thunderclouds. Some areas may still see heavy downpours and gusty winds, so stormy conditions aren't entirely over yet.

High temperatures today are expected to range from the upper 70s to mid-80s across the region. The chances of precipitation will mainly come from pop-up showers moving from the Southeast toward Montana. Peak wind gusts will be around 15 mph, which may increase slightly during heavy downpours.

As evening settles in, temperatures will drop into the upper 40s and lower 50s, similar to Saturday evening's forecast. Additional rainfall amounts should be fairly light as the weekend wraps up.

Monday morning will start off with temperatures warming into the mid-80s across the region. The chances of precipitation will primarily shift to the Central Mountains and Southeast highlands. Wind patterns will be similar to those seen last weekend, with gusts peaking around 20 mph. Overnight lows will cool down to the 50s and 40s.

Most of the wet weather should clear out by Tuesday evening.
