Bengals and UNLV Rebels settle for 3-3 draw at Davis Field

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) – The Idaho State Bengals hosted the UNLV Rebels at Davis Field in Pocatello Thursday night. The Bengals took a 3-1 lead into the second half, but the Rebels clawed back in the second half, ending the match in a 3-3 draw.

ISU opened the scoring in the 6th minute of the game when Lacie Poll got one past the Rebels' goalkeeper. UNLV responded moments later in the 10th minute with a goal from Julia Salem. Later in that first half, ISU scored two goals from distance.

The first long-range goal came off the boot of Gracie East, who wove through the Rebel defense and fired toward the net, beating the goalkeeper on the far post in the 28th minute. In the 32nd minute, Saydree Cooke scored a beautiful goal from way out on a free kick, soaring the ball over the goalkeeper's head and dropping it in just behind for the 3rd Bengal goal of the contest.

However, the second half saw two Rebel goals off of penalty kicks, one from Kaitlyn Taylor in the 74th minute, and one from Summer Pyles in the 84th minute, drawing the game at 3 goals a side. The score would stay that way the rest of the match.

Idaho State now has 1 win, 2 draws, and 1 loss on the season. They will head to Boise next to take on the Broncos on Sunday, August 30 at 1 PM Mountain Time.
