UPDATED: 10:55 a.m.

CUSTER COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI) — The Custer County Coroner has identified the man killed Thursday morning after rolling his semi-truck on U.S. Highway 93 east of Challis as 51-year-old William Park.

The crash happened around 10:37 a.m. at milepost 154. Investigators say Park was driving a northbound 2005 Peterbilt semi-truck hauling a gravel-loaded trailer when the vehicle veered off the right shoulder and into the borrow pit.

When Park attempted to steer back onto the highway, the trailer remained in the pit, and the tractor and trailer broke apart. The tractor rolled once before landing upright, while the trailer flipped onto its roof.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and died from his injuries at the scene. Idaho State Police is continuing to investigate the crash.
