Community invited to Idaho Falls fire prevention block party

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) — If you've ever wanted to be a fireman, now is your chance! The Idaho Falls Fire Department is inviting the community out tonight, Sept. 23, for its annual Fire Prevention Block Party.

The event marks the department’s largest community gathering of the year and is designed to combine hands-on fire safety education with local community fun. The block party provides residents a chance to interact with first responders outside of emergencies. Children and families can tour the station, meet local firefighters, and learn through hands-on booths and demonstrations, including;

• Fire engine tours
• Face painting
• Kids’ firefighting challenges
• Fire safety education
• Live demonstrations from event sponsors
• Photos with Sparky the Fire Dog

"We just want to make sure that everybody in the community knows that they're welcome to come down," said Fire Chief Johan Olson. "We got some great food, we got great people. We got some fun activities and some opportunities to learn a little bit about fire safety."

The free, family-friendly event runs from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Station 1 Headquarters, located at 343 E St. in downtown Idaho Falls.
