South Fremont moves on to 4A State quarterfinals with victory over Preston

SAINT ANTHONY, Idaho (KIFI) – South Fremont is moving on to the quarterfinals of the 4A state playoffs after defeating Preston 35-34 in a nail-biter Friday night. Preston started the night strong and jumped out to an early 14-0 lead in the loss.

On the second snap of the game, Preston QB Carter Perry took a quarterback keeper 80 yards to the house to take a 7-0 lead. South Fremont's responding drive gained some yards, but stalled.

On Preston's first play of their second drive, Perry struck again. He took another QB keeper for a touchdown, this time from 50 yards out to give Preston a 14-0 lead.

Later, South Fremont picked up a huge first down when QB Cy Hill found Tayson Farley on fourth down and three to extend their drive. A play later, they cut the Preston lead in half when Hill pushed through a pile of players to get in the end zone, making it 14-7 Preston.

The winners of the 4A first-round games will be reseeded for the quarterfinal round with MaxPreps rankings. Those rankings are released every Sunday.
