Stretch of unseasonably warm weather goes into new work week

KIFI

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI)- An upper-level ridge building across the Intermountain West is bringing mild and dry weather to East Idaho, starting with increasing clouds tonight and warm conditions on Sunday. High pressure will remain in control over the region, establishing a prolonged stretch of tranquil conditions.

Daytime temperatures will climb five to 10 degrees above seasonal averages from Sunday into early next week. Highs in lower-elevation areas are expected to push toward 60 degrees, while pockets of low clouds slowly clear out from the Arco Desert toward the Divide.

For tonight, expect increasing clouds with a low temperature around 31 degrees.

Sunday will bring increasing clouds and a high temperature near 55 degrees. Light and variable winds will become southwest around six mph in the morning. On Sunday night, skies will be mostly cloudy with a low around 33 degrees as south winds around five mph turn calm in the evening.

Unseasonably warm weather will continue into the workweek. Monday will feature mostly sunny skies with a high near 55 degrees and light, variable winds, followed by a low around 35 degrees Monday night. A weak atmospheric feature passing Monday night into Tuesday could bring a slight drop in temperatures and a chance of light showers in northern zones.

Conditions will clear quickly by Tuesday, leading to sunny skies with a high near 53 degrees. Clear weather will continue through Veterans Day on Wednesday with another sunny day and a high near 53 degrees. Overnight lows will remain in the lower 30s.

Highs will reach near 56 degrees on Thursday and 57 degrees on Friday under mostly sunny skies. While computer forecast models differ on the exact timing of the next storm system late next week, current trends indicate precipitation will hold off until Friday night or Saturday.
