Dry weather and warmer temps to last through mid-week

KIFI

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI)- Mostly cloudy skies tonight with overnight lows dipping to around 33 degrees, followed by a pleasant, partly sunny Monday with high temperatures reaching near 56 degrees. An upper-level ridge of high pressure continues to bring dry, tranquil weather to the area, keeping daytime temperatures five to 10 degrees above seasonal averages across the region.

While a sprinkle or stray mountain flurry is possible in northern higher elevations tonight, no measurable precipitation across lower-elevation communities is expected before Monday morning.

Tonight's weather will remain quiet across the valleys. South winds of around five mph will become calm in the evening. Persistent cloud cover will keep overnight low temperatures near 33 degrees.

Monday daytime will bring partly sunny conditions along with light and variable winds. High temperatures will rise to near 56 degrees, with lower-elevation highs approaching 60 degrees throughout the prolonged dry spell.

Cloud cover will increase again Monday night as a second shortwave feature moves across the region. Skies will gradually turn mostly clear toward Tuesday morning, with lows around 36 degrees. Calm winds will shift to the south at five to eight mph after midnight, with gusts reaching up to 20 mph.

The weak Monday night system will carry slightly better moisture, bringing isolated to scattered light showers north of a line from Ketchum to Driggs. Rain and snow showers will remain concentrated over higher terrain.

The passing system will bring a minor reduction in daytime temperatures on Tuesday, dropping high temperatures by about five degrees to near 53. Tuesday will be sunny with southwest winds around 11 mph and gusts as high as 23 mph. Skies will be mostly clear Tuesday night with a low around 32 degrees.

Sunny and mild conditions will continue through mid-week. Veterans Day on Wednesday will feature sunny skies with a high near 54 degrees and a low around 32 degrees. Highs will reach near 57 degrees on both Thursday and Friday under mostly sunny skies. Light precipitation could spread across East Idaho over the weekend as a cold trough pushes inland.
