Pocatello Mayor Gives Nod For Vacant Council Seat

Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad made a recommendation to fill the vacant city council seat No. 1 on Monday.

Blad said he is submitting Jim Johnston?s name to fill the seat vacated by Ron Frasure. If the council confirms Johnston he will be immediately sworn into office.

?His experience and knowledge as a local business owner and community volunteer will greatly benefit the Council,? Blad said.

Johnston is currently a real estate broker with The Home Specialists Real Estate Company. He is also an active volunteer and helps with Pocatello Neighborhood Housing Services Board of Directors, SEICAA Board of Directors, Pocatello Chiefs with the Chamber of Commerce, The Red Cross of Idaho State Board of Directors, Grand Teton Council of Boy Scouts of America Board of Directors, Building Contractors Association of Southeastern Idaho Board of Directors, ISU Symphony Board of Directors (including Past President), Citizens Community Bank Board of Directors, Gate City Rotary Club member and Habitat for Humanity.

The City received six applications from individuals who were interested in serving on the City Council. Blad interviewed three of the applicants before making his selection.
