Code Red Call Warned Of Possible Gunman
Bonneville County Sheriff’s office have arrested the man they were looking for on Friday night.
Bonneville County deputies arrested Bradley Helgeson, 22, of Idaho Falls Monday afternoon.
Sgt. Jeff Edwards said Helgeson was the man they were looking for when they sent out a warning call to local residents on Friday night.
Edwards said a woman saw a man running around with a gun on Heath Lane at about 8:45 p.m. Friday and called 911.
When deputies arrived they saw the man and tried to talk to him, but he ran away. The deputies chased after him, but lost sight of him after he crossed Ammon Road. That is when officers decided to send a Code Red call, which is like a Reverse 911 call, to notify people in the area of the situation, hoping someone would have seen him.
Officers determined the man was no longer a threat early Saturday morning, when the family told officers he no longer had the gun and was in their care. The Sheriff?s office sent out another Code Red at about 9:30 a.m.Saturday notifying people the situation had ended.
Helgeson was arrested on two warrants. One for failing to appear for a pre-trial conference and for an out-of-county warrant.
He was arrested without incident, Edwards said.
