ITD Construction Projects On Schedule
Believe it or not, it’s already the end of July, meaning we are already halfway through the construction season.
There are a number of road projects around eastern Idaho delaying your commute.
In the Idaho Falls area the Idaho Transportation Department is resurfacing overpass bridges along Highway 20 and I-15, including exit 113 and 115 along I-15 and the St. Leon and County Line Road overpasses along Highway 20.
From Fremont County, to Franklin County, there is a lot of road work ahead.
In Fremont County the state highway is receiving a fresh coat of asphalt, the only thing missing now are the lines.
The year’s biggest project along Highway 20, the Menan-Lorenzo interchange, is nearing completion as crews have laid pavement up to the new overpass.
“That project is on schedule and we’re moving right along and the hope is to have traffic on that main line in the next couple of weeks,? ITD representative Bruce King.
Some changes are also coming to one of Rexburg’s main arteries.
Over the past couple of months Rexburg crews have worked widening Pioneer Road to three lanes.
Seventh South will also be expanded to four lanes in front of Madison Middle School.
“The road will handle the traffic better and the part of the road that has deteriorated will be replaced with a new road so it will be a smoother travel for them,? Rexburg assistance city engineer Keith Davidson said.
The project is on schedule to be completed by the end of August.
Other smaller projects are taking place on neighborhood roads and the interstate, and so far the skies have helped keep them on schedule.
“The weather has been great and favorable so we’ve been able to carry on doing our construction throughout eastern Idaho, so we are pleased with that,” King said.
In the next few weeks ITD will begin a project, resurfacing Highway 33 from Tetonia to the Wyoming line. They hope to finish the project by the year’s end if the weather cooperates.
