Local Businesses Relieved Lockout Is Over
The NFL Lockout has made national headlines for the past few months, affecting teams, coaches and fans across the country, but what about local businesses?
?We were all pretty concerned,? said Chad Stegelmeier the Area Manager of Big Dog Satellite.
Cynthia Frandsen and her staff at Buffalo Wild Wings worried their way through the off season.
?If there was no football, I hate to even think what would’ve happened to business,? said Frandsen. ?Football is a big season here. I was very concerned about what that was going to do to our business. We got the big screens! This is what people come here for – footballs a very big deal! ?
But it hits more than just restaurants.
The NFL Ticket for DirecTV is 50-60 percent of its business.
?It would’ve been detrimental to our business,? said Stegelmeier.
But good news spreads quickly and so did orders.
?We had probably 40, 50 people yesterday,? said Stegelmeier.
With big relief comes big deals. This year, the NFL Sunday Ticket will be free for new customers.
And we cannot forget about the TV’s themselves.
?TV sales definitely do skyrocket during that time of year,? said Steve Strickland, store manager at Merlin’s TV.
With the lockout over businesses can now breathe a sigh of relief.
?We are all about the football. We are a football-based business,” said Frandsen. ?Business goes up, people come to see, every Sunday you’re gonna see us wall-to-wall.?
