Poky High Students Bringing Back Tradition

A group of Pocatello High School students is polishing up on its sewing ability to help bring back a school tradition.

The group is working to create more than1,000 Poky High hats.

The beanies used to be a school tradition for sophomores and were some times used to initiate new students, but organizer Sterling Hofman said the new incarnation is all about Poky pride. The group of students, and even alumni, met Wednesday to cut out the fabric for the hats that they hope to put together by the end of summer. Sterling said he is proud to see his fellow students getting involved.

“I think it’s great because not only does it show that, yeah, a bunch of kids are excited about this, but it also shows that they’re excited about the school in general,” Hofman said.

Hofman, who borrowed his dad’s old class of ’78 hat, said he is most excited to see students wearing the hats at football games.
