Body Found Off Cliff Near Blackfoot Reservoir

Crews have recovered the body of a 39-year-old woman who reportedly walked off a cliff near Soda Springs.

Dispatch received a call about 8:30 p.m. Sunday from a man who said he was camping with a Lana Nicole Rosalez near Blackfoot Reservoir when the she walked off.

While out searching for her, police said the man, who was Rosalez’s lifelong best friend, spotted her body at the bottom of a cliff, near Corral Creek and Government Dam.

The Caribou County Fire Department, Search and Rescue, and Sheriff’s Office began a recovery mission Sunday night. They headed back out Monday, and were using ropes and a basket to get down to the bottom of the cliff and recover the body. They were able to recover the body around 10:20 a.m. Monday.

Sheriff Ric Anderson said they believe alcohol was involved, and they don’t suspect foul play at this point.

Rosalez was from Blackfoot and working in Boise, Anderson said.
