Portneuf Medical Center To Lay Off Some Employees
Portneuf Medical Center will be laying off nearly 30 people as a part of its east campus consolidation plan.
Employees in departments where there will be cuts received a letter last week stating that the layoffs would take place, giving them the option to take voluntary leave and a severance package.
PMC?s marketing director Brenda Stanley said no one has been laid off yet and the hospital is still trying to figure out exactly which positions will be eliminated.
None of them will be patient care positions. The jobs the hospital is getting rid of are administrative-type jobs that now have duplicates because of the consolidation.
Stanley said it doesn’t make sense for the hospital to keep two people on staff where only one worker is needed. In the end it will be a cost-saving measure for the medical center, Stanley said.
