NWS Issues Severe Thunderstorm Warnings

Severe Thunderstorm Warning:

Issued at: 3:21 PM MDT 8/4/11, expires at: 4:00 PM MDT 8/4/11

The NWS in pocatello has issued a

severe thunderstorm warning for: northwestern bannock county in southeast Idaho, this includes the city of chubbuck, south central bingham county in southeast Idaho, this includes the city of fort hall, Until 400 pm mdt. At 318 pm mdt, national weather service doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail, and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was located near fort hall, and moving east at 20 mph. Locations that could be affected include, fort hall, gibson, chubbuck Precautionary/preparedness actions, Stay tuned to this broadcast for the latest updates and information. Issued at: 3:14 PM MDT 8/4/11, expires at: 3:45 PM MDT 8/4/11

A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 345 pm mdt for extreme northwestern bannock and central bingham counties, At 309 pm mdt, national weather service doppler radar continued to indicate a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail, and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was located near springfield, or 10 miles west of fort hall, moving northeast at 20 mph. In addition, this storm has produced a gust front capable of producing winds up to 40 mph which will affect the chubbuck area. Locations that could be affected include, pingree, rockford, Precautionary/preparedness actions, If on or near american falls reservoir, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now.
