Modern Pioneers Follow Oregon Trail

In an authentic covered wagon a family is following the entire Oregon Trail, and Saturday they passed through Pocatello.

Rinker Buck came up with the idea to make the long journey as he considered writing a book on the people who traveled across the country on the Oregon Trail.

Along with his brother, Buck found the wagon, put together a team of mules, and started along the footsteps of the pioneers months ago.

With 1,400 miles behind them they hope to reach Oregon in the next few weeks.

Buck said the experience of living life like the pioneers has taught him a lot.

?You wake up in the morning and you just say, ‘I have to do this again,’ and being very persistent and not giving up, that human beings in modern America are much tougher than we think we are,? Buck said.

The group travels at least 20 miles every day.
