New Park To Reel In Beginning Fishermen

The city of Idaho Falls is opening a new park.

Friday the city unveiled the newly completed trail in the 5 acre Ryder Park, just south of Sunnyside Road, along the west bank of the Snake River.

More than 30 years in the making, the first 5 acres of more than 57 acres will open in the next couple of weeks.

The new park features a 1-acre fishing pond in the hopes kids will have an area to learn how to catch trout.

As funding trickles in, the park will feature pavilions, benches and other amenities.

“Obviously this community does hold it’s recreation in high value and I think we got the support to keep moving we are excited to get his far,? Dan Keyes said, assistant director for the city’s Parks and Recreaction division. ?I think that as it develops and people get more excited that were going to get even that much more help.”

The park is being funded through a combination of tax dollars, grants, and donations.
