Thousands Of Ducks Race Down River
More than 12,000 little yellow rubber duckies poured into the Snake River today for this year’s Idaho Falls Duck Race.
For this summer tradition crowds lined the banks of the Snake River to watch the ducks go by Saturday afternoon.
When time counted down for the ducks to drop, not much happened.
A safety chain had been left on the container, and when workers pulled the cord there was just enough of an opening for a few of the ducks to drop and get a bit of a head start.
Within a few minutes the problem got fixed, and the rest of the ducks got into the race to the falls.
“I don’t know what I’m feeling. I have a lot of bad luck so I don’t think I won. I’d like to though; my wife needs a new car,? said Ed Avendano, who had bought two ducks for the race.
The person who adopted the fastest duck will win a new 2012 Ford Focus.
